San Diego is lucky: it’s one of the few cities in the States to boast its own Brazilian Choro group.
We are a group of Choro Music gotten passionate for this music style, in which one gave to beginning for curiosity and fun.
The Portuguese word “sotaque” means accent, and refers to the way Choro Sotaque plays this Brazilian style with their own unique San Diego accent. The name was suggested by Brazilian music icon Mr. Hermeto Pascoal when flute player Rebecca Kleinmmann studied with him in Brazil at Brazil Camp in Ubatuba.
Today we have the traditional intrumentation for Choro Music Style:
Stefanie Schmitz – Clarinet and Saxsophone
Joe Amato - 7-string nylon acoustic guitar;
Andre Ardivino – cavaquinho;
Halysson Silva – pandeiro and percussion
Zoe and I enjoyed last night’s music at The Turquoise. I sounded great. I will post some videos on YouTube for you under the name “Choro Sotaque”. Parabems.
